Last Saturday, Cosies opened its doors for an International Women's Day exclusive, boasting a spectacular lineup of DJs curated by none other than Full Spectrum and The Mothership.
In recent years, Full Spectrum has quickly gained recognition for their viral events, compelling the DnB scene to prioritize accountability and inclusivity. Their meticulously curated nights have introduced a unique element to the scene that resonates throughout every venue they occupy, as demonstrated successfully last weekend with the Mothership crew.
Also trying to stray away from the cookie-cutter lineups that you so often see across the scene, The Mothership has consistently held space for female-identifying, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC DJs to break into these grassroots venues and events. Since their beginning, they have just about played every venue in Bristol, taken over radio shows, and even performed at Boomtown—showing no signs of stopping!

Both the Mothership and Full Spectrum have done an incredible job of creating a space for local DJs to be celebrated in all their glory, especially in a scene that is still so male-dominated, and for IWD, the selection was absolutely gorgeous.
Inviting a selection of friends from both the Full Spec and Mothership families, the likes of Sekhmet, Tashphrodisiac, Brevity, Asset, MLS, and DJ Nay graced the decks at Cosies for a night of roof-rattling Drum and Bass and Jungle. From start to finish, each takeover infused the room with unreal energy that reverberated through the beloved basement.
After years of working with the wonderful Full Spec crew, the experience of witnessing the love and acceptance that always accompany such a wild night out never loses its charm; it genuinely feels like a family reunion each time, even if you're a newcomer. This is always successfully shown too, as the venue quickly becomes rammed full of like-minded ravers, each and every one with a smile on their face.

The 5 hour event flew by like an absolute dream, with the constant stream of beautifully relentless tunes blessing the crowd. Even when I left, the crowd was still yet to thin out.
It is clear that these nights are an integral part of Bristol's underground scene and are certainly highly anticipated within our community, so keep your eyes peeled for the next one!
Full Spectrum's next event is their well-loved open decks at To The Moon (19.4.25), where all are welcome to sign up for a set. Following that, their jungle day party will be taking over Dare 2 in May!
As for The Mothership, you can catch them at XOYO London for an immense Mothership takeover this Friday for all your DnB desires!
